I have extensive experience of teaching at primary, secondary, and university levels in a range of subjects. My main areas of expertise are English, French, and coaching for 11+ and 13+ entrance exams, and I can teach all subjects at primary level. Though I am London-based, I have taught privately in both Monaco and Athens, as well as leading workshops in schools across the continent as part of a European theatre tour whilst at Cambridge. As well as one-on-one teaching experience, I have taught at several tuition centres around London, so that I am also comfortable teaching larger classes, particularly at secondary level.
Outside of private tuition, my work with my theatre company has seen me lead workshops on Shakespeare in schools nationwide, partnering with educational institutions such as University College London and the English Speaking Union in the process.
In English, I give particular focus to coaching specific aspects of essay writing technique, such as sentence and paragraph structure, improving and integrating vocabulary, and formulating balanced arguments.
For French I favour a conversational approach, backed up with short bursts of intensive vocabulary and grammar. This increases confidence whilst cementing core knowledge, so that lessons are both fun and hugely beneficial.
I find that my interest in drama and performance, combined with the academic training I received at Cambridge, allows me to plan lessons that are both informative and engaging. This also helps with another important aspect of my teaching - increasing confidence in public speaking, which is particularly crucial for future interviews both at university-entry level and beyond.
