I studied English Literature at University of Manchester and continue to be an avid reader. My specialism at university was Medieval Literature and Modern Poetry, although I also studied a range of topics, such as The Renaissance, Shakespeare and John Milton. I now work as a tutor, teaching English up to A Level and Maths up to KS2/11+.
Previous Teaching Experience:
I am familiar with 11+ examinations and am currently tutoring English and Maths to a student who will be taking their 11+ exams for North London grammar schools (including Latymer, Henrietta Barnett and Dame Alice Owen, as well as Highgate School). I also have a good knowledge of the National Curriculum Key Stage 2 (including Year 6 SATS exams), having worked as a Teaching Assistant at a Primary School in East London. There, I observed lessons and supervised children one-to-one and in groups. I also shadowed teachers, gaining insights into lesson planning and teaching techniques. I have also previously tutored at A Level standard, when I worked with a student who was retaking his coursework module. I was able to assess where he could make improvements to his essay, and what reading he could do to strengthen his argument. We also looked at essay writing skills, focusing on structure and developing an argument.
