English as a Foreign Language

Personal Statement

I moved to London four years ago after graduating from Cambridge, teaching English as a foreign language for a year and a half at a number of central London EFL schools. In my spare time, I started writing and performing comedy, an interest I had had since University (I was President of the Footlights in my final year). Fortunately, I have been able to keep this up while tutoring, and I have now been to the Edinburgh Festival three times with my comedy group and even appeared (albeit briefly!) in a number of TV shows. The group currently has a couple of scripts in development at production companies, and I am writing and performing in a Radio 4 show due to record in April. Aside from comedy, I maintain an interest in all things Japanese, theatre, literature and film.
