I have had a solid two year experience in teaching Mathematics to pupils aged 12 to 15 years and that experience has been instrumental in developing a deep understanding of the hurdles pupils, of that age, face in Mathematics. Quite often it is a lack of confidence and sometimes even a fear of Mathematics. My aim is to remove such hurdles and build pupil confidence.
I have taught at a private school abroad for two years i.e. August 2008 to June 2010, in my first year there I taught Mathematics to year 7 and the next year taught Mathematics to year 8 and O Level Additional Mathematics to year 9. My goal, as a teacher, is to make concepts and procedures easier to understand by leading the pupil through a number of interesting and relevant examples.
Currently I am studying for an MA in Mathematics Education at Kings College London at their prestigious Department of Education and Public Policy and therefore come in regular contact with renowned Mathematics Educators. This programme has underscored key issues in Mathematics Education and has enabled me to teach the subject in more effective ways than before.
I am a patient and friendly person whos always willing to hear my pupils out. I will also go out of my way to try and understand my pupils problems and to pose the best solutions possible. I expect pupils to work hard and to develop good, well rounded personalities
